The Nanny State Chronicles: Episode 2- Google Me

My name is Andrew  McLaren. You can google me. My opponents are googling me I am sure. You will not find as much as a speeding ticket against me. You will not find a bigger supporter of law enforcement than in Andrew Gordon McLaren. Yet I know what its like to sit in the back of a police car for a crime I did not commit. I know what its like to have your dignity besmirched and your character libeled.

Overcriminalization is the greatest threat to American liberty since the Cold War. Overcriminalization is when the City of San Francisco outlaws goldfish as pets, and plastic bags from shopping malls. Overcriminalization is when public school boards prosecute felony five year prison sentences to honor students for pocket knives and banning chocolate milk while bullies and gangs run free. Overcriminalization is when SWAT teams bust down your door and detain you for six hours for unpaid student loans only to find out they found the wrong person. Overcriminalization is having your kids taken away from you without due process presuming the parent is guilty before proven innocent. Overcriminalization is arresting a 61 year old grandmother for failing to prune her rose bush. Overcriminalization is no warning police killing of an unarmed pedestrian whose only crime was watering his lawn while drunk. As your congressman I will GLADLY repeal nit wit legislation by applying COMMON SENSE and holding bureaucrats and politicians accountable for their nit wit shenanigans.

The Nanny State Chronicles: Episode 1- Business versus Bureaucracy

In Arizona, I never received a parking ticket. In California I received 900 dollars worth in 2 years. 


Why? 


First off I had no parking spot at my home and was expected to move my vehicle every 2 hours, or I was in an important meeting and couldn't just run out in the middle of it to feed the meter. The revenue raised by meter maids in Los Angeles ironically enough doesn't even make any money for the city or state instead it goes to paying their salaries, gas, vehicle maintenance and insurance. 


The ridiculous traffic and parking regulations in L.A actually hurt small business because I would avoid going to stores due to the lack of parking. 


A way to create a business is to create a parking lot where citizens can pay a reasonable rate and not have to race out of the movies or from shopping to put more quarters in the meter or face a 55 to 155 dollar punishment. This would allow shoppers to enjoy spending money and stimulating the economy without worry. 


Also a parking lot would allow for another lane of traffic to be opened up and decrease traffic. Also a system of parking lots will allow us to hire a staff of maintenance people including attendents, custodians and valet. It's not fair that poor signs and unfair laws take away much needed money from good citizens over honest mistakes. Thank you.
